Sister Mary Qualey
Benedicta - Sister Mary Benedict Qualey, 61, died Saturday at a Houlton hospital after a short illness. She was born at Benedicta, Aug. 25, 1902, the daughter of Charles and Mary (McAvoy) Qualey. She was a member of the Sisters of Mercy of Portland. She was a teacher in the parochial schools of Calais, Bangor, Bath, Old Town, Lewiston, Westbrook and Portland. She is survived by a brother, Edward Qualey of Woburn, Mass; three sisters, Miss Margaret Qualey of Benedicta, Mrs. Mary Brewer of Presque Isle and Mrs. Ruth Powers of Cambridge, Mass., and two nieces. A High Mass of Requiem will be celebrated Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Benedict's Catholic Church at Benedicta by the Rev. John Anderson, pastor. Interment will be in the family lot at St. Benedict's Cemetery.
